    2011 BMW 5-series Revealed

First Official Images of BMW's All-New 5-Series Released

Starting with the refreshed E90/E92 3-series, and continuing on to the F01 7-series, BMW has been making an effort to remove many of the polarizing design elements introduced by the much-maligned former design chief, Chris Bangle.

The new F10 5-series eschews the elegant, almost subdued lines of the E60 5-series, replacing them with more aggressive and sporty lines. The new 5-series certainly brings back the appearance of a true sports sedan, more reminiscent of it's more agile smaller sibling (3-series) than of it's more luxurious larger sibling (7-series).

BMW has not released any official specs yet, nor have they officially unveiled the car in person yet, we just have the official photos to go by. But what we do know is the car will be slightly longer, offering more legroom for rear passengers. The car will be offered with 4 gas engines and 3 diesel engines, including the top-range 4.4L twin-turbo V8 and a 240HP 2.8L inline-six (like any BMW should).

More details can be found in the official Press Release.

I had one of these in 5 Series GT guise in the shop this morning for pre delivery inspection................... no comment other then I'm glad Chris Bangle is no longer with BMW so there is hope for future generations. Hopefuly he is designing toilets at a design firm in China.

    Re: 2011 BMW 5-series Revealed

Do not want...how the M5 going to look I rather have the e60 m5 then that unless they do major changes. The front reminds me of a z4 I think its to much of a mashup between the 3 series z4 and 7..... Hopefully soon they build some new retro versions of their cars much like every one else is doing.. Maybe even a e39. But thats my opinion on what I would like to see and buy. But hopefully the navi integration has what seems to be better at least.

    Re: 2011 BMW 5-series Revealed

^they'll probably give it major face lift within a year or two.
Most cars these days don't last 5 years. Look at the mk5 vw.
Nobody liked it so they gave it a facelift and called it a mk6 after 4 months. :P

I think the e34 m5 was the best compromise of
    performance, reliability, and comfort.

The e28 was probably just a beast

    Re: 2011 BMW 5-series Revealed

i think it looks rather dashing, everything just looks smoothed out. it does take way too many cues from the currently facelifted e90 and the new e89. the bum looks more of that of the new 7 but i kinda liked the last two years with the angel wing like tail lamps. besides all the ugly in the 7 n 5 will soon trickle down and around to every auto maker, sadly the bangle-butt will live on.

    Re: 2011 BMW 5-series Revealed

I think the lines are still bit to many and I cant see how the m5 of this is going to look good or mean.... Honestly rather get a e63 amg drove one and loved it sadly. Even the e63 is cursed by and ugly ass though. Not as bad as this. Hopefully you are right this will get a quick facelift. WTB retro 3.0CS once they make that it will go first on my list for Euro delivery.
